Muriel Casamayor

Our founder, Dr. Muriel Casamayor (She/Her/Ella), a distinguished DSW doctor, has a profound focus on serving the 2LGBTQIA+ and undocumented communities.

Dr. Casamayor's journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles, followed by a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University. As a licensed Latinx psychotherapist in California (LMFT License #116554), she has been making a significant impact in the mental health field since 2010, and practicing psychotherapy since 2014.

Born and raised in Peru, Dr. Casamayor is a first-generation immigrant who intimately understands the challenges of adapting to a new country and culture. Her dedication to the Latinx community and other minority groups is unwavering. She is a staunch advocate for domestic violence victims, collaborating with the Los Angeles Police Department to support children and families affected by such violence. Her mission is to transform victims into survivors and help them thrive.

As an Afro-Latina Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Dr. Casamayor is deeply committed to supporting BIPOC individuals facing mental health challenges. Drawing from her own experiences as an immigrant and a graduate student, she brings a unique perspective to her practice, understanding the complexities of adaptation and acculturation.
